The plain, wooden building resembles a gabled box and is located at today’s 80 Salem Street. It is taken over by British troops and used as a hospital during the Revolutionary War. The congregation moves to a new building (third) in the North End in 1829* and the original building is purchased and moved to South Boston in 1830.* A new church (third) is built in 1829,* another (fourth) on Beacon Hill in 1855,* another (fifth) in the South End, and the current church building (sixth) in the Back Bay in 1882.*
